Double Page Spread

This is the basic layout of the double page spread with the consistency of the colour for the double page spread which matched the Front cover and Contents page.
The font used is related to Heather’s second Album.

A quote has been added which I have noticed are often on double page spreads of music magazines and other closely related genres.

“Secrets of sunny success” has been added because that is the name of the latest single which readers who know Heathers music will recognise.

The text used down the side of the “H” goes over the page break so that it’s continuous, it’s the introduction to the secrets of Heather's success in the music business as a solo artist

Contents Page Progress

From the duration of the last update till now I have improved and added more to my contents page for Turn It Up.

As you can see the Title has been changed from "Contents" to "Features" because it seemed to fit better with the style of the magazine. The font of the main text has been changed and all hte page numbers have been added along with freebies and an Editorial note at the bottom to make it more proffesional, the image has been  moved from the left to the right as it went better there.

Contents part 1.

Today has seen the start to the creation of the contents page, it however is imcomplete and a work in progress because spaces are bare and it doesn't look proffesional enough to be on an actual website therefore I will continue to edit it until it is at its best for the first offical draft before it gets assesed and I am given points on how to improve it furthur

Offical Drafts of Turn It Up

After much consideration I have changed many aspects of the magazine. These include- the colour of the magazine because it would be released in the summertime.
This was the first draft of the magazine because it is incomplete but the basic layout of the magazine in coming toghether here.

In this draft the picture has been added along with the rest of the text, I however didnt think this looked very good because the text looked boxed off and didnt surround her face very well like a frame.

I took inspiration from Billboard magazine with the different coloured text to highlight the important bits I however decided that the colours didn't stand out against the background very well so I decided to change it again.

After much consideration I settled on bright colours to make things stand out, I changed the main story font so it relates more to the pop genre and I added more artist that are involved in Pop, I also added the website address and other details as seen.

Change.

After reviewing my front cover of my magazine "Turn It Up" I realised that the eyes of the band on the cover shot dont draw you in therefore I have edited the magazine so that it only has one of the girls in the band as the only person because her eyes are wide and you can see the tones.

Turn It Up Draft 4

During the past hour I have added all the compulsary features and what I think I need so now I need feedback from my fellow peers on how it needs improving because it needs to look proffesional and in keeping with the genre of the magazine and who it's aimed at which is why the use of pink is used because its stereotypical for girls meaning the will know that it's aimed at them.

Turn it up- second draft.

This is the updated version of my magazine cover, it has had the image on of the band "The Sundae's", a lot of text has been added to the front of the magazine however it is still missing elements like a price.

Final Colour Scheme for my Pop Magazine.

Earlier on I looked at several different colour schemes and concluded that I would go with the red and pink tones and I generated these colours for my magazine. This will continue throughout the magazine so it looks more proffesional. These colours represent the fun side of a teenage girl and as I fit into this catogory I know that this is the colour scheme that girls would most relate to. I did ask several girls if they liked this colour scheme and all had positive feedback on it saying that it was bright and fun and suited the genre and style of the magazine well.

Masthead Colour.

I decided that I needed to see which colour looked the best for my masthead and made it stand out the most. The first one would be described as fire truck red and three people choose this one saying that it would stand out well against the background. Colour number two wasn't very liked because it was described by others as being weak and drained meaning that it wouldnt stand out against the background colour. Colour number 3 was liked the most because of all the colours it stands out the most and it follows the stereotype of pink being for girls which is what my magazine is aimed at therefore the message would be passed easily and it would be understood. Number 4 was said to be dull in colour and it wouldn't stand out, it wasnt hated but it wasnt liked either. Finally number five was liked but when put up against number three it didn't stand out as much therefore overall number three was choosen as the best on for my pop magazine.

Front cover Idea's

As my magazine is a pop genre it ultimately means that everything has to compliment that theme so that it all matches which means that every band or singer or producer put on my magazine must be related to the pop genre. Therefore for my main band on the front cover I have decided to use "The Sundae's" they are a girl group with fun and funky songs that are great for teenage girls who want to have fun. There first single shall be called Apples and Pearls because they both have a special meaning to each band memeber.

Colour Schemes for my magazine

I have choosen 4 different colour schemes, I was able to use pinks and purples fcr the magazine because the genre is pop and its aimed at teenage girls. I asked 10 people which one was their favourite and which one went the best with the magazine style, 4 people chose pink, 5chose red, 1 chose purple and 0 chose green. I I shall therefore use the red colour scheme because it best reflects public opinion and my magazine theme.

Preliminary Task- School Magazine.

As my preliminary task I made my schools magazine cover and contents page. The colours match that of the school logo so that it has a continous housestyles therefore its relatable to the school, the topics choosen are subject to the school and they are things that the students could find helpful and insparational. I used a Close up image for the front of my magazine to show the main subjects happy and welcoming smile which relates to the main article of being helpful and welcoming. I asked people to analyse it and show the strengths and weaknesses of the magazine cover and contents and I changed it to fit the mark so that it was appealing to the eye and showed a range of subjects.

Title/ Genre choosing

What the Title should be.
This is one of the most important things on the magazine because its how you get recognition and without it no one would know what the magazine was and it would never be bought again because they wouldnt know what to look for. It must somehow relate to the genre of the magazine because if it was a sports magazine and you called it "Tween Talk" it wouldnt suit it at all. I have thought of numerous different names which include...
  • Pop Power. (The power of pop)
  • Allegro (this means quick and lively in relation to music)
  • Music Madness
  • Turn it up
  • P (Short and simple to remember)
I shall conduct a survey of which is the most favourite and then that will be the title of my magazine.
What the Genre of the Magazine is.
I have decided that after much consideration that the genre of the magazine will be Pop because then I can write purely about pop and artists to do with pop. My second choice was to do an all round one where I did about everything but I found that targeting at one segment of the market was better because then I can work on it just appealing to them.

Different Camera Shots

I am analysing the different types of shots avaliable for me to use on my magazine.
  Extreme Close-Up-
An extreme close up is a shot where one small segments of something e.g. an eye of a person. This makes it more dramatic and highlights the emotion the person is feeling through their eyes.
This wouldn’t be the best thing for my magazine because it doesn’t show who the person is and how they relate to that genre of magazine.

Close-Up-
When using a close up shot it allows you to see the person or object in more depth and the expressions on their faces are more pronounced than when not. Especially when in black and white because everything stands out more.
The problem with this is that you cannot see the way she’s standing and there can me no more detail in the picture i.e. you cant see any objects around her.

Medium Close-up shot-
A medium close-up shot is a picture taken from the top of someone’s head to their shoulders. This allows you to see
A medium close up is from the head to the top of the shoulders only. This is the best shot for showing the detail but still not being too close that there is nothing else to see.
This image looks dramatic because it looks like she’s staring at you which draw you into her. This is probably the best one for a magazine cover.

Medium shot-
A medium shot is taken from the top of the head to the waist.
This is so you can see the angle of the way that they are standing as well as the expression on her face.

Medium long shot-
A medium long shot has been used here so you can see all of the dress because this was taken on a fashion show and therefore they want to promote the outfits I could use this because it means that you can see the body language

Long Shot-
A long shot shows the full length of their bodies because they are supposed to look cool and appealing to the eye by the way they are standing, It shows you what is happening in the picture and you can make up ideas about what it is related to.
